Grief / Anxiety

 Grief / Anxiety~

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet passed by a woman who was weeping beside a grave. He told her to be conscious of Allah & show patience. She said to him, "Go away, for you have not been afflicted with a calamity like mine," as she did not recognize him. When she was informed that he was the Prophet, she went to the house of the Prophet and did not find any guard l, she said to him, "I did not recognize you." He replied, "Surely, patience is at the first impact of a calamity." Sahih Al Bukhari 1283.

Feeling grief and anxiety especially having faced calamities is natural, which every single person will inevitably have to face, but it is how we deal with these situations that define us. Allah Almighty highlights how this is a test in life.

Alquran (2:155),
Surely, we will test you with a bit of fear and hunger, and loss in wealth and lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to the patient."

At the same time, Allah does not abandon those in distress, He reminds us that time will heal, and ease is soon to come.

Alquran (94:5),
For surely, with hardship will come ease."

He wants us to remember Him in our moment of distress and through remembering Him, our hearts and souls will find the comfort and healing it so badly needs: Surely in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find peace, Al Quran (13:28).
